Description
Shallows. Rocky-bottom rivers. Shoals. White-water rapids. They'd all prove treacherous for a propeller-driven outboard, but Yamaha's Jet Drive outboards are all about it. You can "off-road" without the possibility of breaking a blade on rocks or other underwater obstructions. So while you may be giving up the prop, you're gaining a whole lot of freedom with a jet drive.
Yamaha's 747-cc F40 Jet Drive outboard produces 30 hp at the pump. Its compact, lightweight SOHC three-cylinder, in-line design features a long-track induction system and a single throttle valve, which creates compact, lightweight power and improves throttle response for shallow streams. This tiller-handle version comes with electric start and nitro-assist tilt and fits 20-inch transom boats.
With no gearcase or propeller extending below the hull, a jet drive lets you maneuver around or pass over obstructions that would limit the travel of a conventional propeller-driven outboard. Electronic fuel injection gives you responsive power with fuel-sipping efficiency.
